When fall arrives, a leaf (or more) falls from a tree every single second. Raking up leaves is monotonous and sometimes discouraging work. But the process can be fast and easy if you don't let leaves pile up outside for too long.
If it starts raining and there are too many leaves in your yard, they can damage the grass underneath. Unless you want dead patches of grass throughout your yard, don't postpone cleaning up the leaves. It only takes a couple days for the grass to start to brown.
The best way to have a clean yard is to clean up those beautiful gold, red and orange leaves every weekend until all trees are bare. When too many leaves fall at once, they become thick and therefore difficult to remove with a simple rake or even more heavy duty equipment.
We go through a couple different tools to make your life just a little easier when fall comes around.
Use a Lawn Vacuum
A big machine like lawn vacuum can help you remove the foliage, grass and yard debris. They will rid leaves from your yard quickly. These products are sold in electric, gas and manual models.
The most expensive ones are gas lawn vacuums. They are very powerful and effective. If you live on a tight budget, we suggest you purchase manual vacuums as they are less expensive.
If you have a big lawn and lots of trees, it would be a very good idea to have a lawn vacuum.
Use a Leaf Blower
If you are looking for a less-expensive alternative to lawn vacuums and other leaf removals, use a leaf blower.
It may take you a little longer to tackle all the piles of leaves using this tool but it is still a very good option. Plus, it's less work than raking up those leaves. Compared to lawn vacuums and rakes, leaf blowers are the most economical choice.
Just like lawn vacuums, this type of leaf removal is sold in various models. You can either run the machine on gas or use an electric model. Gas leaf blowers are more expensive and noisier, but they are very powerful and handle sticky foliage more easily.
Note that leaf blowers can cause irritation if you are allergic to mold. If you want to reduce or eliminate mold growth, you need to clean up the leaves once they fall.
Use a Mulching Lawnmower
Mulching lawnmowers are one of the best tools to remove leaves. They are a combination of all the other machines mentioned. They first cut leaves and grass clippings to small pieces. After that they are put back onto the lawn. When using this method, you don't need to deal with raking leaves. This saves you extra effort of putting leaves in trash bags (and you don’t have to buy the expensive bags!). Mulching mowers can be found in electric and gas models.
Machines of this kind are sold in different varieties and models. Some lawn vacuums even have built-in leaf shredders. If you can afford to buy such a machine, it’s a great investment.
Another awesome investment is calling CDA Lawn Care and letting us handle it all. You don’t have to buy pricey lawn bags or expensive equipment. We do it all for you! Just sit back and relax and let us do the dirty work.
