“Holes in my grass?! That’s what I’m trying to avoid!”
No, we aren’t talking about patches of missing grass or other unsightly lawn problem...we’re trying to avoid these things. What we do want to do is aerate your lawn.
Aeration is the process of putting small (less than an inch in diameter) holes in the lawn to help water and nutrients reach the roots. The best way to make these holes is with hollow tubes or spikes that remove a small section of dirt. This is done instead of using solid spikes, which can impact the dirt. We want to avoid tightening the soil because that just makes is less porous (the opposite of what we’re trying to do).
Soil compaction or impaction can be caused by heavy use of your lawn (constant running or driving over it), clay soil types (that some regions just naturally have more of than others), or a thick thatch layer (all that natural stuff in the process of decomposing into soil).
It can cause lawn maintenance products like fertilizer and pesticide from running off the surface of the lawn (rather than getting down to where it needs to be). That means that all that product you are purchasing to prevent difficult weeding later, or to finally increase growth and sustain the law you work so hard for, will end up just being waste.
Aerating the lawn helps to increase the amount of water, nutrients, and oxygen that are able to get into the soil so your grass roots can use it. It puts your landscaping products where they need to go. By using a good core aerator, we maintain your lawn and keep your grass green and healthy by getting the soil and the grass roots what they need.
Healthy roots and healthy soil lead to healthy lawns. We want to ensure that important nutrients can reach the root system for your entire law, no matter the size or amount of wear on the surface.
Let us help you with aeration service so you can use your lawn as much as you like, without any worries.
